Publisher Description

Abstract Many communities have become concerned about their inability to retain and attract young people. This is an important issue because it raises concerns about where the next generation of leaders will come from. This paper begins with a broad overview of the 27 census metropolitan areas. First, it compares the percentage of young people in each CMA, then it focuses on the inflows and outflows of young people in each CMA. Finally, the paper focuses on the St. Catharines-Niagara (Ontario) CMA to find out what motivates young people to stay or leave that area.
