Theirs to Take

This book is holy hotness, Batman! Off the charts steamy. I was so glad to see Jonathan and Cruz would get their story after getting glimpses of them throughout the other books.

Hartley is immediately likable and I really liked the fact that Cruz and Jonathan meet her outside the club. Here’s my gripe: I wanted more! Laura Kaye does angst really well and there wasn’t a lot of it in this book. Yes, it’s an erotica, but I also want the romance aspect of it. The give and take; ups and downs; the moment that (even though you know there’s a HEA) you get that little tug in the middle of your heart when the character’s heart breaks. Some people may not want that. Some people may love the fact that these characters meet, decide they like each other and want to give it a shot, and it all works out. I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with that. But as a fan of Laura Kaye’s, I’m always going to want more. 😉

All that said, I still really enjoyed their story. This is a great addition to the Blasphemy series!

Laura Kaye knocks it out of the park with the third installment in the Blasphemy series, this time we get two incredible men instead of one, and a feisty woman with an intense love of the water and a heart of gold. Hartley Farren inherited her father’s charter sailing business, and has continued where her father left off. Her love for the sea, and her amazing sailing abilities have earned her a robust clientele and an opportunity to participate in the renowned Sailing University. The only problem, a hurricane slammed through the Chesapeake, causing severe damage to Hartley’s catamaran, and jeopardizing her business for the foreseeable future. With no reputable company available to do the repairs she requires within the timeframe she needs, Hartley finds herself desperate for help. Enter Jonathan Allen, former naval officer and co-owner of A&R Builds and Restoration. Jonathan, and his best friend Cruz Ramos own and operate the sailboat repair and restoration business, and business is booming. So much so that they really don’t have the time to take on a repair as large as Hartley’s…but Jonathan just can’t tell her no. As with every book by Laura Kaye that I have had the pleasure of reading, Theirs to Take is an incredible tale of discovery, love, and passion. The plot and storyline are unique, and very well crafted. The story is written with fabulous clarity, insight, and heart. I was completely taken in by the story, with it’s emphasis on family, partnership, and love. The character development was spot on, with each of them burrowing their way into my heart. Hartley was so amazing. Her love for her father, caring for her mother, and the strength to carry on and remain the same sweet, kind, loving woman. She was everything you want to be, and everything you want in a heroine. Jonathan and Cruz were heart-stopping. Each carrying their own brand of sex appeal, masculinity, and honor. Two amazing men, each as different as they are the same, with so much love to give. When the right woman comes along, every woman will be jealous of what they have to offer her. This book was amazing, and I can’t wait to see what Ms. Kaye brings us next time.
