Then there was Max is the story of finding hope when all seemed lost. Robin grew up in a world of wealth and status, but never quite fit in. Her husband, David, enjoyed his leadership role. Robin loved David and was devoted to him. Robin did allow a few of her needs to be met, to save her sanity. She spent time away from her wifely duties, at Central Park, feeding the birds. It was at there, where Robin first encountered Max. He was a severely neglected four-year old boy. Max began to show an interest in Robin’s birds. As the months past, she became more involved in Max’s life. Robin learned that Max was in foster care. Max dragged her deeper and deeper into his tragic life. Robin tried at first to confide in David. He immediately demanded that she end the friendship. Robin tried to distance herself from Max, but it was impossible, she was becoming Max’s only hope. Her friends and family could not understand this attachment she had to Max. She stood alone until help came from an unexpected source.
