I liked it
MacDonald wrote, unsurprisingly, in a way that people don’t write today. He spends lots of time philosophizing about things and explaining in great detail what the characters are thinking, which made the book longer than I would have preferred. I found myself highlighting nuggets of wisdom and beautifully expressed thoughts, and the way he crafted the characters, especially the main two, was quite wonderful.
