For Regan Penhaligon, there’s no better place to run to than the exclusive Ardnoch Estate in the remote Scottish Highlands. Her impulsive behavior has finally caught up with her and Regan’s visit with her sister, Robyn, is an opportunity to hide from someone who has grown dangerously obsessed with her.
Determined to make amends for her mistakes, Regan plans to repair her relationship with Robyn by staying close. And when an offer of help comes from Thane Adair, Regan gratefully accepts.
Widower, Thane, needs a new nanny housekeeper for his two young children and when they bond with Regan Penhaligon, he offers her the job. But as the weeks pass and the complex American reveals who she really is, Thane struggles with his growing attraction to her.
Regan never expected to feel so intensely for Thane, but she can’t deny her passion for him or her love for his children. When someone from Thane’s past threatens his family, Regan wants to be his pillar of support. However, his continued inability to trust her might just destroy their chance at future happiness… and the person who drove Regan to Ardnoch might snuff out her chance for any future at all.
Stellar romance with a side of suspense!
Spectacular! A terrific second story in this stellar series with sexy Scottish siblings, a wonderful Highlands rural setting, heart melting romance and thrilling suspense. I loved the first story and this is one is just as good. I just knew Regan was going to be a firecracker of a character but she was so much more. A sunshiny outside and huge personality that’s hiding an inside that’s a little broken. I loved her! And what a match she is for the gruff Thane. Thane was a bit of a mystery in the first book. Sure, he is a great dad to his two youngsters and a sad widower but underneath who is he? Well, I’ll tell you. A sexy hot stud! The “old man” turns the young nanny inside out with his slightly dark mad skills in the bedroom. The build of their relationship was everything romance should be. Slow and sexy and finally white hot when the passion explodes. They had a sizzling connection right from the start and the build was so good with the sparks flying and the layer of secrecy. Plus the love that formed between the two was so beautiful. One of the best relationships in the story is between nanny Regan and Thane’s adorable kids. It was wonderful. I loved those kiddos. The suspense was a side element without a lot of punch like the first book but still a maddening thrill ride to the resolution. I can’t say enough good things about this marvelous series with delicious characters, spine tingling romance and enough suspense to keep your heart pounding. This can be read as a standalone but I highly recommend starting at the beginning. This talented author has outdone herself with this series. I love the Adair family and and can’t wait for the next installment. 4.5 stars
Disappointing - Weak Hero and Doormat Immature Heroine
The age difference is very apparent. Regan showed not much maturity / growth, always pushing boundaries and falling doormat to a man. I don’t understand why SY always writes about heroines in this dynamic, though her writing skills is phenomenal. Thane let me down and demonstrated why some men are not worth it. Why did he come to his conclusion literally towards the
couple of last pages? It just makes what Regan feels for him cheap.
