This Is Why I Stayed

Imagine being in a one-sided relationship being the one who is always giving but not always is receiving. Imagine being the one who has to carry the heavy load all of the time and wondering when the other party will pick up some of the weight. It doesn’t matter whether you are in a relationship or friendship the weight is still too heavy to bear. Why do the pressure and burden always seem like it is on one person? How can one person be in a relationship?

What will it take for the other person to realize who and what they have in their life? Will there ever be a time when the one who is carrying the load would be appreciated instead of being taken advantage of? Over and over desires and expectations are overruled with a dictator’s mentality because it is not what the other person wants. What is the last straw?

The relationship has been one-sided for so long that spoken words echo and fall on deaf ears.

You ask yourself a question, why do I stay? It doesn’t matter who or what prompted the idea, the heart, mind, and spirit repeatedly say ‘leave now and leave quickly.’ Why stay in something that is pulling you in the opposite direction that you are going? We’ve heard it numerous times from housewives, celebrities, and even presidential candidates who all gave numerous reasons true or false why they stayed. We won’t be biased; many men have found themselves in the same situation. They have all given their reasons why they stayed. Now, let me give you the reasons why I stayed.
