Step Down
I liked Eliza better in first book. In this one, too much dithering about her feelings for Ollie. And she gets away with completely unbelievable and risky behavior. Of course, this IS fiction.
But it boggles imagination that high society would accept an unmarried, lower-class, heavily pregnant woman at an important ball, no matter how much Eliza likes her.
There are several anachronisms herein. And modern authors simply don’t know the difference between “mantel” and “mantle,” “disinterested” and “uninterested,” to mention just a few common mistakes.
