Publisher Description
Warning Book Contains Explicit Language that may offend some readers.
The book is based on the life and exploits of fictional three young men who join the Royal Australian Navy for different reasons.
This book is purely fictional and includes a few of the things that I have loved reading about all of my life:
the Royal Australian Navy,
crime fiction,
music and
black humour.
All of the characters in this book are fictional so if your ex or current navy don’t go thinking that I am making you famous, I have used some historical events and timelines to put context to the story. The behavioural expectations for members of the Royal Australian Navy differ greatly to what is told in this story.
If you don’t like swearing, violence, people taking the piss out of each other and humour that can’t get much blacker, it might be time to either put this book down or better still burn it. For those who have served I hope that you get a laugh, but remember it is fiction and written for a bit of fun. Additionally, I cannot envisage any Admirals lining up to volunteer to be promoting this book and that is to be expected.
The story is based on three young blokes from totally different backgrounds who join the Royal Australian Navy from completely different reasons. It was the era between Vietnam and the invasion of Kuwait, which changed things for ever for those who served in Defence Forces across the globe. That being said I have included examples of behaviour which thankfully are no longer tolerated with regard to bullying, racism and non-acceptance of people’s sexuality.
It was a time when Jolly Jack Tar played hard and worked just as hard. A lot lived from pay to pay, whilst others managed to set themselves up financially, and others were as shifty as a shit house rat and bordered on the criminal. Mother’s seemed to love Jolly Jack Tar and many fathers cringed at the thought of their daughters having anything to do with a sailor, this I found out the hard way on more than one occasion.
The three main characters Troy Roberts, Robert Armstrong and Isaiah Hodgson bumble through their first three of years in uniform, forming friendships that will stand the test of time and last forever, but at the same time stitching each other up along the way and getting in more shit than most people could get into over three lifetimes.
Remember readers this is a work of pure fiction. Enjoy
