Publisher Description
The sporty twelve-year-old David Kerzner dreams of a future in which he develops the wooden box with a glass eye into what we now know as the modern television. It is 1938. At that time, his father takes him from Boston to Amsterdam, despite the growing threat of World War II. His father's more experienced business partner, a Muslim Palestinian, wisely flees Europe for Boston.
In Amsterdam, the Nazi traitor Corbijn steals all the possessions of the Kerzner family. After the war, Corbijn uses Jewish gold and jewels—meant for David and his ideas—to board one of the German submarines that secretly steam to Argentina. David survives by fleeing from Amsterdam to Switzerland. After the war, as an adult, he returns to Boston.
From then on, the traitor becomes David's strongest competitor, building his success on stolen heritage while David himself is left completely impoverished. The competition is literally deadly.
Bound by a promise to David's father, the former business partner, Abdel Amnini Sabagh—the Muslim Palestinian—steps in to help the young Jew. However, it appears that the Christian Corbijn frames him as well. Sabagh does indeed lose money, but his true and most valuable capital is secretly held by his gardener, Habib.
Will David, now partnered with Sabagh's son, win—and fulfill his dream of television conquering the world?

Very good
Incredibly captivating book, it kept me enticed from start to finish and there were no parts that weren't equally as good as the rest. The concept and setting is very unique and unlike any other book that I have came across before. There's a nice amount of suspense and lots of twists and turns that I never saw coming at all. It's the definition of what a good thriller should be like.
