Jacky was determined to not allow her family drag her down to the crime-filled lives they led. Having, in their plan to ruin her, gained a position in the CID, and a partner, she starts what she was hoping was a bright, clean slate of a life. Rick is her new CID partner, and one who had no interest in what Jacky's family tried to make her be. Rather, he had interest of what he could make her become. In seeing the living conditions she stayed in, he insists that she move in with him as the first step in getting to know her better.
