Publisher Description
This book is a series of meditations upon life, spirituality, and the human condition. A collection of writings exploring our beliefs in God, our understanding of life, our place in the universe, and our social, economic, and political ideologies. These are what shape our individual and global perspectives and drive our individual and shared experiences as human beings. If we can dive deep enough into some of them, it may be possible to shed new light on a few fundamental questions, such as:
“What lies at the heart of our inability to structure society in such a way that would provide for the greatest common good for all people?”
“How is it that hate and intolerance continue to flourish at a time in history – with vast amounts of information at our fingertips - where anyone with an Internet connection can study and learn the truth of something for themselves?”
“Why is it that in this modern age of prosperity, with powerful tools at our disposal like the Internet, smartphones, and social media, are some of us still faced with persistent conditions of poverty, starvation, and homelessness?”
“How can atrocities like genocide, femicide, gendercide, infanticide, and all manner of long-standing illicit enterprises, not the least of which is the systematic overexploitation of our planet’s natural resources, go unanswered for generations?”
“In a world where God’s complete absence on the world stage is the cornerstone of many of our religions, how can we trust that man has not modified Scripture to suit his own agendas?”
These are obviously very tough questions, and there are so many more deserving of answers. In a lifetime of research and contemplation, we should be fortunate to arrive at even a few. I certainly do not expect to miraculously happen upon them all by the end of this book. But with a sincere appreciation for the task, and an unwillingness to allow fiction to masquerade as fact, I will do my absolute best to unravel as many as I can.
