Publisher Description

Charlotte Amberly would rather eat a lump of coal for Christmas dinner than marry the Marquess of Firthley, so when her parents cancel her London Season in favor of a rush to the altar, the feisty debutante takes husband-hunting into her own hands.

Alexander Marloughe, reluctant heir to a marquessate, would rather not spend his holiday dashing through the snow after a flibbertigibbet just out of the schoolroom, but no woman before Charlotte has ever led him such a merry chase.

Tis Her Season

Tis Her Season
A season in which she’s a Diamond of the First Water, curtsy before the Queen, and being courted is what Charlotte Amberly has dreamed about her entire life. NOT being married to a man older than her father, no matter he is a Marquess, to secure an alliance with the family, and definitely NOT BEFORE HER SEASON! But that is exactly what she is facing unless she comes up with a plan.
Alexander Marloughe, Earl of Caelogan, does NOT want to inherit the title of Marquess but that is exactly what’s going to happen unless his despised grandfather’s far-fetched plan to beget another son on the poor young girl he is set to wed. The girl he can’t help but admire who has entered the parlor attempting, and failing, to look fat and frumpy to discourage the match.
As Charlotte spends more time with the Marquess of Firthly she becomes increasingly unsettled and makes a plan for escape…in the middle of winter…in the middle of the night…in the middle of a snowstorm. All of which is pointed out to her by the Marquess’ grandson as he discovers her attempting to flee. Definitely was not the part that was well thought out but she refuses to remain and wed an old man.
For reasons Alexander would rather not examine he offers to escort her in his coach to the port so she can make her escape. Reaching their parting destination they part ways for what Alexander thinks is a final time. What he hasn’t counted on is Charlotte’s final destination and the plans she has will put her right in his path in the near future.
Charlotte’s antics from her semi-well thought out plan shows a girl determined to get what she thinks she deserves without thinking of the consequences. Consequences she soon learns could prove worse than a marriage to an ancient Marquess.
A heart pounding prologue leads the reader straight into laughing and wanting to smack the spoilt heroine and from there it only gets better. An antique Marquess, a girl determined to get what she thinks is her due, a gentleman who can’t seem to stay away, a termagant of a mother and someone so evil no one should have to deal with them – all excellent elements for an outstanding story by Mariana Gabrielle.
