Really interesting read
It was nice getting into the life of London Lewis and her cousin Aja. London’s character is extremely likeable and you’re always rooting for her. I absolutely hated Donovan and his grandmother. It’s always amazing to see wonderful authors gain success and I wish Joi the absolute best in her career.
***Spoiler
It would have been a better read if London found a partner who was kind and respectful. Donovan was rude to London and used low blows to hurt her, but everyone around her said he’s a great guy?? Absolutely not.
I also would have liked to see more background and interaction with London’s dad/uncle, the grandmother’s colorism/fatphobia regarding London, and his grandmother’s schemes. Those parts were thrown in and rushed while we had needless scenes about London/Donovan.
