THIS Is How You Launch A Series!
I’ve been hyped to dive into one of Andrew Warren’s books for a long time, and to say I wasn’t disappointed is an understatement — I was FLOORED.
Tokyo Black throws you straight into the world of Thomas Caine, a rogue CIA operator clawing for a way out of some very bad circumstances. When an old friend offers him a shot at freedom in exchange for a deep-cover mission, Caine doesn’t hesitate — he moves.
Without spoiling anything for new readers (like I was), just know this: buckle up. This is a ride that never lets off the gas.
The pacing never dips. Not once. Where many thrillers get bogged down with exposition or procedural drag, Tokyo Black keeps the momentum firing at rapid-fire speed.
Warren shifts the story between Thailand and Japan with ease and vivid realism — you practically feel the humidity, the neon, the tension. Criminal factions collide: Yakuza enforcers, a fanatical splinter cell, and more. You won’t be bored for a second.
The action is bloody, visceral, and grounded. The characters feel lived-in and authentic — no heavy-handed clichés in sight.
Consider me a convert!! I can’t wait to see what else Andrew Warren and Thomas Caine bring to the table in the rest of the series.
