Publisher Description

When Ellie and six of her friends return home from a camping trip deep in the bush, they find things hideously wrong -- their families gone, houses empty and abandoned, pets and stock dead. Gradually they begin to comprehend that their country has been invaded and everyone in the town has been taken prisoner. As the horrible reality of the situation becomes evident they have to make a life-and-death decision: to run back into the bush and hide, to give themselves up to be with their families, or to stay and try to fight. This reveting, tautly-drawn novel seems at times to be only a step away from today's headlines.

Addicting series.

John Marsden is a Gift from god. His gift, is being an author. I read the actual book, not the computer version. Anyways i got hooked right away. The unthinkable happens. I have read the first, second, and third book of this
series and whenever I read one I cant stop crying! There is just so much emotion and passion!!! It starts out perfectly leveled and ends with a "you are going to die if you don't read the second book" kind of ending. that is how much it keeps you reading. It is sad though since the setting is in australia because it was famous over there but not in the U.S. They made movies for the books and everything!!! We just didn't find out cause were so far away. I am so blessed to find myself reading this series. If you like suspense, action, fiction, devotion, crying, sensitive, and a bit of romance in 2, 3, and hopefully 4! oh, also, in book 3 u find out what a true, TRUE, friend and sacrifice really means. Thank you, Robyn. You are my role modelThat's my review. 1 last thing- BUY IT OR U WILL REGRET IT!

Amazing book! - for those over the age of 15

I have this entire series in real, physical books, but because I love them so much I decided I must have this first one on my iPhone as well so that I can look at it whenever I want! :) It's definitely highly recommended - it's a fantastic series!!

However, I have no idea why iTunes has categorized it as "Children's Fiction"?? This is definitely not a children's book, in my opinion. The Australian publisher has classified this as a Young Adult Novel, and I absolutely agree with that. I think you should preferably be AT LEAST 15 years old to read this book, as it contains a lot of descriptive, brutal violence and cold-blooded murders, as well as drug and alcohol use, profanity and sex.

But it's a great book, and I definitely recommend it to those who are 15 or older!! (I, myself, am 20).

(Also, the movie with the same title, which was based on this book, has received the Australian rating "M - for Mature Audiences over 16 years of age" because of strongly violent content - despite the fact that the movie even left out a lot of things from the book. So I think the same or similar rating should apply for the book as well).

Very good but unbelievable at parts

Tomorrow When the War began is a good read with many action packed pages. However, the book is often slow at times and many of the characters are hard to like. All in all, this book is slightly better than average and reading it is a good way to pass the time.
