Publisher Description
Peter Coyote’s first collection of poetry takes us on a whirlwind tour of an eclectic and exciting life as an actor and Zen Buddhist priest, meandering from love affairs to marriage to divorce to the Sixties to psychedelic spirituality and beyond. Written over several decades, these poems read as a collage, each piece distinct and contributing to a cohesive lyric narrative.

Relatable stories in poetry
In Tongue of a Crow, Peter Coyote shares vivid images and memories of the 60s-70s, a time when people began to challenge the status quo and dogma, and a personal journey that in some ways sounds so familiar. I highly recommend Tongue of a Crow as an easy to read story in poetry that so many of us can relate to because of the era and the roads with family, growing up, and finding our way.
A life fully lived
Kinetic and raw, from Beatles to Poppies to A Still Life - a personal favorite…til Hawk Feathers and a “tangerine tree pregnant with its weight of tiny suns…”
Peter’s words dance to the rhythm of places and nature and memories of lost loves.
Owls and coyotes and moons.
Slaying dukka. Gutting a pig.
Chewing through friends and lovers.
A time warp of lives lived, lovers loved, creatures known and unknown…in the true voice of an artistic wordsmith and beloved narrator.
