Too wanton to wed
Typically, Ridley wrote an excellent story. She has a superb ability to efficiently describe surroundings and emotions. I’ve read many of her books and always enjoy them. Unfortunately, this gothic novel is more heartbreak than warmth. Not my cup of tea, but just cannot deny the author’s ability.
To Wanton To Wed
As always, I love Erica Ridley storylines. I’m always amazed at how her stories develop and really enjoy the history she weaves throughout. But more than anything, she has a natural instinct when writing about the way her characters would react in certain circumstances. I do have to admit that Alistair is probably my least favorite character in all of the Ridley books I’ve read. The poor guy was always making the wrong choice. For me, he was cloyingly unsympathetic.
