She's playing hard to get…to win the MMA fighter of her ultimate fantasies in a sultry new novel from New York Times bestselling author Lori Foster
Vanity Baker loves a good, clean match, but she's not above playing a little dirty. She's wanted Stack "The Wolf" Hannigan from day one. Seems as though the best way to corral the famously commitment-phobic fighter is to insist on keeping it casual. And her plan works—deliciously well—until Stack's past steps out of the shadows.
Stack learned early to stay free of attachments. But with sexy, forthright Vanity, he's the one always left wanting more. Then his troublemaking family comes back into the picture, threatening everything Stack cares about—Vanity included. Suddenly he realizes they're much more than friends with benefits. He's ready to go to the mat for her…but will it be in time to protect the woman who's tamed him for good?
Foster brings her signature blend of heat and sweet to her addictive third Ultimate martial arts contemporary (after Holding Strong). After Vanity Baker's family is killed in a plane crash, she's left alone in the world, but she's determined to find the right companion with whom to build a new life. She's got her sights set on hunky mixed martial arts fighter Stack Hannigan, but to reel him in she's going to have to play hard to get. Stack's not exactly known for commitment except to his chaotic family but with Vanity, he sees the promise of forever. However, word on the street is that someone wants him dead, and it doesn't matter who gets in the way. If he shows his love for Vanity, he could put her in danger. Foster ably tosses out red herrings and also seamlessly lays the foundation for the next book in this series. This luscious tale will appeal to Foster's legion of fans and attract new ones even those who aren't fans of professional fighting.

First, I would say that there are no bad Lori Foster books. She is an excellent writer. I was anticipating this to be filler for the book that I have been so excited to read Fighting Dirty, but this book is very good on it’s own merits. Strong storyline. Great secondary characters and cameos. I loved Stack!
I am cannot wait for my two favorites who are next Armie and Merissa!
The ultimate romance
Vanity wants Stack, but she knows better than to go about getting him in the conventional way. Dating and relationships aren’t really his thing, and the last thing she wants is to become another notch in his bedpost — or scare him off for good. So rather than simply make herself available to him, she plays unavailable, letting him think that a romp in the sheets is all she’s after. And if she plays her cards right, he’ll keep coming back for more.
The Verdict: At this point, all it takes to make me pick up a book is Lori Foster’s name on the cover, but if you follow my reviews, you probably already know that. The guys in the Ultimate series are all kinds of hot, and Stack’s been a fun one to follow in the previous books.
Vanity has her sights set on Stack, but the tough fighter tends to turn tail and run at the first sign that a woman wants more than a one-night stand with him. But if she doesn’t do something, he’ll never consider anything more than flirty friendship with her, so she offers him exactly what he thinks he wants — sex. And nothing more. At the end of the last book, she put her plan into play, getting Stack to agree to be her date to the wedding, with a guarantee that they can turn up the heat afterward. And thinking Vanity’s not after more than one night of naked fun, Stack falls right into her trap.
The chemistry between Stack and Vanity burns up the pages, so the story gets off to a fast but awesome start. As they get to know each other better, Vanity’s feelings simply grow deeper, and Stack starts feeling emotions he never expected. But it also comes to light just how much Stack values honesty in people, and Vanity hasn’t exactly been honest about her intentions. I won’t give it away, but it doesn’t take a genius to figure out what their conflict becomes.
Lori Foster has done it again, creating strong, likable women and the irresistible men they fall in love with. Every single page has substance, too, bringing Stack and Vanity closer together rather than relying on contrived drama to speed things up. If you haven’t checked out this series yet, do it NOW. The Ultimate series is the ultimate romance readers’ story, and the hot, strong men are the icing on the cake.
I don't even know where to start I so love this series with the fighters. There is always high drama in their lives and it was no different with Stack and Vanity. The suspense to figure out who is really the villain keeps you reading wanting to know more. Stack was awesome and definitely the man and Vanity was strong but sweet. Great story. I can not wait for Armie and Rissy.
