Publisher Description
The "animal " in us is the thematic beat over which the 84 texts from" tracks of the crocodile" are set in 12 cycles. In these chapters the crocodile is, as are birds and fish as well as the ancient coelacanth, that icon which represents being one of the oldest species still alive after having survived earth's archaic history. It is the rather more unconscious feeling of a genetic metamorphosis over long hereditary lines that in many ways connects us with these animals.
Somewhat of a vague longing, certainly an admiration is present, as they are revered as gods in many traditions of ancient peoples, as they are feared, as they are exhibited in zoos, as they are dreamt of or even as plastic imitations, toys for our kids.
How much of that animal is still lurking in us, how much animal do we wish to arouse, would like to have within us as we let the images of crocodiles, birds and fish be tattooed onto our skin?
How much "animal " do we need or want to be in our love lives in order for us to feel satisfied, happy?
The text restrains from having a narrative aspect as it encircles a possible answer, whereby its rhythm is interrupted by underlining and an expounding of the predicament in choruses, or else marked by repetitions.
As "digital art poetry" these texts belong to a digital concept, coined by club performance videos, techno and house - with integrated music and spoken language, so that they can be presented as a Crossmedia Book or may be a live performance.
