The drum is above all a survival tool. It’s a direct link to the dream world. This world has the particularity of allowing the spirit to travel through all the different worlds that make up the universe 

The process of making the drum begins with a dream. After dreaming about the drum many times, you get the impression that you'll be a better hunter.

The dream brings the hunter to the caribou. There is an ally, a friend within the drum, a voice that helps the hunter, that tells him where to find the caribou. Mine is somewhere around here. Every hunter has one that can help him if he plays the drum.
