Publisher Description
My book captures the plight of a good mans battle with the social behavior of the environment around him. He grew up in the comforting surroundings of the city of Chicago in the 1970s. Moving around as a child with his mom, they settled in Parkway Gardens at the tender age of six. Our hero took care of his mom as much as he could at such a young age. He even learned how to cook and take care of himself, unsupervised, by the age of seven. He extended that courtesy to his little sister when she appeared around the time that he was turning nine. This was so that his mom wouldnt have to worry about paying a sitter.
Things were going well until his father moved in with the rest of the family and his mom started attending church. The young mans mother began to become a totally different person. Everything came to a head when he reached the age of sixteen. Chris, our hero was determined to escape the madness of his abusive home and make a better future for himself. He was a child of channel eleven and the ABC Afterschool Special. He stood fast to the belief that every problem could be solved if you put in the time and effort.
After joining the military and attending college, Chris sowed his wild oats and began to look for a bride. It is said, What you run from will always catch up to you. The young man from Parkway found that out firsthand in the beginning years of his long-awaited marriage. He made the mistake of promising her that he wouldnt leave her during their time of courtship, but when it got rough and he saw the vicious cycle of his young years returning though his ever-loving wife, he tried to put her away with the truth.
Sometimes people only hear what they want, and this is where the story begins. Please enjoy.
