Publisher Description

The first thing to understand about photography is that "it ain't rocket science." I started out as a travel writer who used to pay a photographer to travel with me until, one morning after he'd had a big night out and was too tired to work, I borrowed his camera and discovered it just wasn't that difficult. Now, 15 years later, I make a comfortable living from travel photography and I'd like to share some of the important lessons I've learned to help fast-track your ability to earn a living from your images or, at very least, give you some powerful tips on how to capture better travel pictures. I should add that these 50 Top Tips are not overly technical - in fact they are built simply around 50 of my best photographs, with details of the different techniques that were used to capture them and some invaluable lessons I've learned along the way (certainly, I wish someone had pointed these things out to me 20 years ago). Each of the tips has been designed so you can walk straight out with whatever camera you have and apply them to your own photography. Inside you'll learn: How to capture exceptional travel photographs, the secrets many professional photographers would prefer to keep to themselves, the techniques behind some of my most popular images, and powerful lessons I've learned in my journey to become one of the most widely published travel photographers in the Asia Pacific region.

Critic responses to this book:

"This inspirational and helpful guide is a must for all those photographers keen to develop their travel career further" - Philippe Ruttens, Editor of Capture, Australia's top-selling pro photography magazine.

“I have always been enthralled by the colour David draws from his subjects and the detail he captures in faces. How lucky photographers are to access some of these secrets in David’s own laconic, layback and open style. I can’t go back to reading the traditional ‘how to’ guides after this. Give us more David” - John Cvetko
