Tree of Jesse

This is a collection of stories from around the world that celebrate Advent themes in Scripture. The first story is actually from the week before Advent as it links together the Christmas and the Easter stories through the figure of St. Dismas, the Good Thief, who tradition holds was present both at the birth and the death of Christ. 

The fifth story is “The Tree of Jesse”  is a Jewish legend that reveals the deep spiritual connection of Joseph of Nazareth with both Jesse and the Prophet Elijah. The full text and story of the Tree of Jesse are in chapter 6, but here is the audio of the story itself:
