Trial by Bullet is a standalone novel. However, readers might enjoy first getting to know Ava and her fellow characters in her breakout novel, Slinging Bullets. In the first Ava Castillo novel, our detective is tasked with infiltrating the Detroit Wheels football organization in hopes of preventing a calamitous Super Bowl shooting. In Book 3, Faded Spotlight, Ava and Bennett investigate the sudden death of a rising superstar, singer Callie Alexo.
