Triple Jeopardy

Triple Jeopardy, Three Strikes but Not Out, is a true story that reads like a fiction. It describes how heartless federal investigators unleashed terror on me and my family as they sought to unseat all the good I’d done in the Muslim community and society at large. Sentenced to prison—thrice— I was afflicted by the cruel malaise of injustice, fighting for my legacy, and to maintain the structure of my family. Triple Jeopardy is no pith at all. It is the tell-all that recalls moments up until I entered the dark corridors of the U.S. legal system, and beyond.

Compelling social issues regarding criminal justice reform, religious bigotry, racial prejudice and political bias are referenced, as well as my experience with polygyny and the extreme reactions it provoked. My encounters with celebrities, entertainers, sport icons and politicians is intriguing. Interacting with notables the likes of President Bill Clinton, Muhammad Ali, Don King, Bobby Brown, Flavor Flav, Al Be Sure, Whoopi Goldberg, Dione Warrick, Diana Ross, Oprah Winfrey and others including my son-in-law, Mike Tyson, deliver readers a plethora of captivating occurences. Collectively, these events provide concepts that are much bigger than me and the book.

Triple Jeopardy differs from traditional memoirs. Utilizing my credentials as a certified life coach, I offer life coaching tips, referred to as “Rita’s Rules,” throughout the book. Other distinctions, are the blurbs, by globally renowned notables, that already appear on by book cover. Their endorsements and commitments to promoting my story should be an advantage in boosting sales. Some would say that Triple Jeopardy is an unorthodox memoir that will no doubt leave the reader staggering as they journey through my years of glorious productivity, heartbreaking losses, and the fight back again.



About the Author



A native Philadelphian, Dr. Rita Ali’s extensive credentials include a plethora of professional and social accomplishments. Among her expertise are a Doctorate Degree in Business Administration and a CFI Life Coach Certification. Dr. Ali is also the author of a memoir entitled Triple Jeopardy Three Strikes but Not Out, to be released in the spring of 2019. Her trials and tribulations are revealed in the book. She describes her unique successful career in public relations, event planning, event promotion, civic service and entrepreneurship. Her experiences as a former columnist, radio personality, media producer, business proprietor and serving a nine year commission under two governors are exceptional. Dr. Ali has worked with boxing champions on promotional aspects of title fights. Her professional affiliation with globally renowned boxing icons such as Muhammad Ali, Larry Holmes, Joe Frazier, Michael Spinks, promoters such as Don King, Butch Lewis and Murad Muhammad are noteworthy.

Dr. Ali also provides a detail account of her most debilitating encounter with law enforcement. She details how in spite of a stellar reputation she became a target of federal prosecutors and was convicted three separate times on virtually the same charges. Regardless of her innocence, and compelling statement of a veteran federal judge expressing his disdain for the prosecution’s case against Dr. Ali, her son and daughter, the jury still rendered a guilty verdict. Prosecutors went beyond that and manipulated the system to convict her three times on the same charges through the process of a superseding indictment. In no uncertain terms this equates to triple jeopardy. Day after day, for over a year Dr. Ali and her family members were vilified by certain individuals of the media. Essentially, lies and distortions were deliberately disseminated to help prosecutors taint any jury pool against them. Irrespective of the aforementioned injustice the purpose of the book is not to desecrate the FBI or US attorney. In fact, she stresses high regard for America having the greatest judicial system in the world. However, not all FBI agents are prosecutors are honorable or completely void of political persuasions. Some exhibit and act on their personal biases against certain ethnicities, religious groups and misrepresenting facts to score a win.

Applied strategies, used to successfully address turbulent times and overcome challenges are shared in her memoir. Captivating episodes of her personal, professional, and political career are provided in the book. Factual data of the indictment, trial, conviction, incarceration, halfway house, reentry to society are presented in conjunction with information which supports her declaration of innocence, family involvement, current relationship with children, grandchildren, husband, Islamic and community at large. Dr. Ali’s relationships, travels with her daughter Lakiha, son-in-law Mike Tyson, son Azim Spicer, politicians and celebrities she’s encountered or has affiliation with are also mentioned.

Aside from writing the book to vindicate herself and family, I want to use it as an opportunity to help others. Dr. Ali has already solicited the support of elected officials, celebrities and other prominent persons advance her efforts to impact positive social change. Lobbying for prison reform, restoration of voting rights, working with corporations to provide employment and lobbying government agencies to assist reentry persons with securing adequate housing is a priorities.

Many regard Dr. Ali as a legendary figure for having the courage to stand for her convictions. A recipient of tremendous support from her family, religious community, friends and supporters, Dr. Ali considers herself fortunate. Though, she lives a comfortable life, she is concerned about changing the debilitating plight of inmates or others reentering society. Inasmuch as, her professional, personal and social experiences are relatable to people on various levels the targeted consumer population is massive.

The goal is to use Dr. Ali’s experiences and credentials to brand her products to increase book sales, corporate leadership training, life coaching services, and market her as a motivational speaker. Establishing a comprehensive social media presents will enable her to reach a broad audience of interested individuals and groups. Do to Dr. Ali’s popularity in Philadelphia and being a legendary figure throughout the federal prison system, she is admired by individuals from all walks of life, including the Islamic community. Consequently, there is already great interest in her story. Implementation of strategically planned book publicity, which includes advertisement, social media saturation, public/ media appearances and book tours/signings increases the probability of success. Simply put, people find Dr. Ali’s story intriguing and fascinating with a profound message that gives voice to the voiceless and inspiration to those struggling with issues. The book differs from others as it contains one liner life coaching tips, which are italicized and listed as: Rita’s Rules.

In a word perseverance is her motto and the overall message Dr. Ali seeks to convey to all facing difficulties. Like Mike Tyson and Muhammad Ali, it matters less how many times or how hard you get knocked down. Survivors get back up and fight the good fight again and again. Thus, when God is with you, no one against you can win unless you surrender your will to their evil. There is no certainty of what’s to come but surely this strong African American woman is an inspiration on how to meet and conquer challenges that befall us.
