Sandra stumbles through the wreckage of her transport ship, and the grief of personal loss, seeking coffee from a stock that isn't going to last. Her ship's survivors, huddled in the shadow of its jagged wreckage, are going to have to find a way to stay warm if they're going to survive where they've crash-landed. But everything beyond the relative safety of the camp is dangerous. Like the predatory hex beasts who prey on the yellow-furred herds of animals she thinks of as honey bears. But as Sandra is to learn, when she leaves camp to find a way to deal with her distress, the prey can sometimes be more dangerous than the predator. And she still has more to lose ... or gain!
