Publisher Description
Okazuya food is a unique combination of blended flavors developed in Hawaii under our unique multi-ethnic environment. The many cultures over the years have produced hybrid combinations of ingredients that produce a flavor that is Hawaii’s own. Any one growing up in Hawaii or
visiting from faraway places who has eaten food from an Okazuya will never forget the experience. This ibook is an inside view of how to
prepare the delicious food found in these “take out” restaurants, so that you can enjoy them at home. From classic shrimp tempura to cone sushi, all of the information you need to make these delicious dishes are revealed in this cookbook. We use to call these places “anything else
delicatessen” because when you walk in with your mouth watering for lunch and ordered your first choice, the nice, white uniformed lady with the hairnet would ask, “anything else?” and you would eventually walk out with more then you could eat for several days because everything looked and was so “ono.”
This is a Hawaiian recipe book with what Hawaii calls “ono” (delicious) foods. There are a total of 140 recipes. It includes fun “Hawaiian Speak” which is a result of the mixture of the many ethnic groups living in Hawaii. Also included are some videos describing the different cooking techniques.
This ibook includes some of my favorite foods from okazuyas such as potato/macaroni salad, macaroni salad with carrots, shrimp tempura, vegetable tempura, corn beef hash patties, chow fun noodles, long rice, and egg rolls.
The mixture of the many ethnic groups in Hawaii contributes to the diversity of language and foods we eat in Hawaii...Enjoy!!!
