Description de l’éditeur
This fifth thrilling Tracers novel from bestselling and award-winning author Laura Griffin features a rookie cop and an FBI profiler who discover they’re after the same killer—or is the killer after them?
Rookie detective Allison Doyle only has room in her life for one goal: to prove to herself and everyone else that she is every bit as capable as the men in her small-town Texas police department. But when vicious murder sends a shock wave through her community, Allison finds herself at the epicenter of a bigger challenge than she ever imagined. Legendary FBI profiler Mark Wolfe arrives to consult on the case and puts forth a startling new theory—that the crime is the handiwork not of the police’s prime suspect, but of an elusive psychopath Mark has been hunting for more than a decade. Facing skepticism from local investigators, Mark casts about for someone open-minded enough to listen to his theory—and zeroes in on Allison.
Teaming up with Mark puts Allison’s professional reputation in jeopardy—not to mention her heart—but she shoves these risks aside so she can tap into one of the FBI’s best assets. With Mark’s help, as well as an elite group of forensic scientists known as Tracers, Allison uncovers the killer’s true identity. Or does she? As the net tightens around a psychopath, Allison begins to wonder if she and Mark have trapped a killer or become ensnared.
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
Griffin's winning fifth Tracers forensic romance (after Snapped) cranks up the pace. Special agent Mark Wolfe, an accomplished profiler for the FBI, has been hunting the serial killer called the Death Raven since 2000. When the murder of a young girl hits his radar, he enlists the help of police detective Allison Doyle. She's technically not on the case and the police aren't receptive to FBI interference, but she trusts Mark's belief that the murder is linked to the Death Raven. Scientists at the famous Delphi Center, a cutting-edge forensic research facility, help Mark and Allison stop a madman before he strikes again. The pace is wickedly fast and the story is tight and compelling, diminished only by cookie-cutter chemistry between Mark and Allison. Griffin excels at detailing the mystery and the chase, and forensic science junkies will love the in-depth look at intricate technology.

Excellent Read!
This book was a page turner! I really enjoyed the storyline and it was very well written.
Too Difficult
I love LG and all of the books I’ve read of hers, except this one. I didn’t relate with Allison, I didn’t fall in love with Mark, and the attacks were at the limit of what I could tolerate reading about. Ah well. On to the next in the series!
Mixed Bag
I liked some of the writing, loved the high-tech part and the storyline. However, the author’s choice to make the heroine klutzy and often unobservant left me with mixed feelings. The main character Allison has endearing qualities and I love her fire and spirit. She goes for what she wants. But by the time the book ends I felt she might want to seek an alternative career - a less dangerous career. Admittedly, I do not like love stories mixed in with my crime thrillers so I deducted a point off for that as it was way too predictable. A nice read overall, but I can’t say this book has me wanting to read more of this series.
