An original eBook novella set in the acclaimed Typhon Pact series!
An original e-novella in the acclaimed Typhon Pact series! The Enterprise-E is on a diplomatic mission to the Talarian Republic, the last holdout in the Federation’s efforts to expand the Khitomer Accords in response to the emergence of the Typhon Pact. In the wake of Andor’s recent secession, the Federation is more concerned than ever with strengthening its alliances. The Talarians have been a tenuous potential partner at best, given the history of conflict and mistrust between them and the Federation. But the negotiations between Picard and the Talarians are disrupted by a growing public protest of those who are demanding greater rights—and before long, it becomes clear that the dissidents are not limiting themselves to nonviolent means….

Pathetic- Bennett Phoned This One In
DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! What a terrible experience it was to reach the end of this book. It opens up with the promise of deep reflective character development and political upheaval and intrigue… just what we've come to expect in this series. Not this time, though. Bennett's effort on this would seem lazy for a short story, much less a novella (generous categorization for this puff piece). You get 80% through the story and wind up with an effortless conclusion. The promise of plot and character development are never delivered upon. Major climatic developments happen as loosely referred to conversations, the dialog of which is never given to the reader, or as a road to Damascus revelation with no internal conflict or cognitive dissonance struggle. Horrible. Simply horrible.
If this entry into Typhon Pact were to simply vanish from existence it would not be noticed and the franchise would be better off for it. There are no far (or near) reaching developments in this book that make it required reading for the series in any way. It is fluff. You will miss nothing in this series if you skip this one. Nothing at all. Because of this I will never pre-order another book in this series. I'll wait to see reviews before I give up more of my money on the risk of this dreadful literary experience.
Ugh. I feel like I need a shower after reading this one.
Agreed
I agree with Seat 32F, this was a terrible read.
