Lost to the darkness, Fuery wages a daily war against the corruption that lives within him, constantly in danger of slipping into the black abyss and becoming the monster all elves fear. Work as an assassin gives him purpose, but what reason is there to go on when he killed the light of his life—his fated mate?
Shaia has spent forty-two centuries mourning her mate. Tired and worn down, she agrees to wed a male of her family’s choosing, following tradition that has always bound her as a female and hoping she will be able to gain just a little freedom in return. But as she resigns herself to being the mate of a male she could never love, fate places an old friend in her path—one who tells her that her lost love is alive.
Will Shaia find the courage to break with tradition and leave the elf kingdom in search of her mate? And as a ray of light pierces his soul again, can Fuery find the strength to win his battle against the darkness or will it devour him and that light of their forbidden love forever?

Another good addition to the eternal mates series. Fuery’s and Shaia’s story. I have followed this series from the beginning and all the stories have never let me down. I have liked and/or loved all the stories and this is no exception. I think I would put this in the category of liked just because my connection to these characters was a little weaker for me than others in this series. You have Fuery walking a fine line and dancing with darkness and Shaia oppressed by her family and society. Both have nice stories but they seemed a little to easily beat down by circumstances. I guess in my mind they both felt like they should have caught the fire in their souls a little faster and not so easily swayed by circumstances and others. But the plot is very good you follow their evolution and have the suspense of whether their love will survive or be driven out and away and be consumed by darkness and never see the light again. Will they be strong enough to fight for each other or will the both be consumed and forever changed never to know their love again. Love can break through anything only if those are willing to let it and allow it to shine bright and embrace it with their very soul. Darkness yields to Light but Light also succumbs to Darkness the eternal nature cycle forever entangled in the dance of life. This story displays that eternal dance of life and love Definitely a good read.
Unchained by a Forbidden Love
Another Amazing book by Felicity Heaton as always I can never say enough about this terrific author.. I fall in love with every books she writes As always I’m awaiting the next one...
This book is INTENSE
This book is INTENSE.
I thought I had read "tortured hero" in the past. Boy, was I wrong! None of them comes close to Fuery. His battle with darkness was incredibly emotional, especially when it came to how it affected Shaia.
As always, I'm a TOTAL sucker for the "fated mate" thing, and this book had it in spades. I LOVED reading their love-at-first-sight and the subsequent connection Fuery and Shaia felt to each other.
Felicity really did an excellent job describing the anguish felt by Fuery and Shaia respectively, and while it was heartbreaking to read, it made the happy ending that much better.
I LOVE this series!!!
