Just what the doctor ordered
I am so, so ill. Since I can't have my mommy (I'm middle-aged and she has died) the next best comfort is any book by Rosamunde Pilcher. Her books transport me to a world I'd adore inhabitting, where manners are lovely and hearts are open and endings are always uplifting. A cup of tea, some crisp shortbread, and Rosamunde - better than an apple a day!
Good read, but not her best
I normally love books by Rosamunde Pilcher but this is not one of her better books. I knew, by the description, the plot was far fetched but admittedly she does have a wonderful way with her characters and bringing them to life. There is comfort in her books as well due to her personalized writing style. But again, the plot was a bit much and there was a bit too much predictability for me. While I enjoyed the book, it did not keep me page turning and I had to force myself to finish it. Still, as other commenters have pointed out, the book is a Piltcher and that in of itself makes it a good read.
