Publisher Description
Most incidents and accidents are down to 'human error'. Unfortunately, 'human error' is normal and we can't get rid of it. However, we can reduce the likelihood of one of those, 'Oh s***t moments' if we have an understanding of human factors and develop our non-technical skills.
This is a globally-unique book containing decades of research and practice from high-risk domains translated into the world of recreational and technical diving. This is done through the use of numerous detailed case studies to highlight the value and applicability of these skills. This book is a must for all divers who want to manage their risks more effectively and have fun in the process.

Read three times so far
Every time I listen to the audiobook or read the printed copy, I learn something new. The book is full of insight that can be applied in so many areas of life, not just diving. It helps that I am a diver, of course, but I am not a technical or cave diver yet, and as I progress in my diving career, I frequently find myself referring back to these pages. I have also done so in my professional life with the teams I work with. It may be the most useful thing I’ve ever read, and I know that I’ll likely read it another 10-15 times before it’s fully committed to memory.
Could be great, but have you ever tried spell check??
Locke describes in excellent detail the nature, codification, and processes associated with diving-related human errors.
I think I can safely say Locke did not attempt a spelling or grammar check before sending the book to print, and worse, when I contacted him, doesn’t have any plans to revise the errors, provide prospective buyers an alternative (e.g. PDF, .docx, Pages). He is rather pointedly obstinant in his erroneous writing method.
They are so frequent and so flagrant it is distracting to the reader, and at times doesn’t even make enough sense to parse.
If you think you can look past all that, the content is insightful.
