Under the Southern Cross

This is the story of an 11 year old girl, Alex, and her dog, Mr. Jackson, exploring the the island of Java, Indonesia in 1962. Alex and Mr. Jackson, along with her best friend Emong, experience volcanoes, busy pasars (markets), mountain resorts and villages deep in the Javanese jungle. They encounter vicious PKI (Communist)thugs, wild boars, assassins, Presidents and enjoy enchanting Gamalan music and experiences.
