Under The Twmp

Under the Twmp is a documentary style book captured in South Wales. In a small estate just outside the city of Newport that was built in the early 1960's as a satellite village for workers of the then new Llanwern steelworks.



Under the Twmp is a documentary photo book, with images captured in the large housing estate of Ty-Sign, Risca. The name for the book comes from generations of residents who live and once lived on the estate and used to say "We live under the twmp" Which was short for Twmbarlwm. Also known as Two Barlwm, Twyn Barlwm, the Nipple or Pimple.



This book was captured by myself to mark a history I had once had growing up on the estate. From the house I was born in to the school I went to this book looks at how I see Ty-sign and what it once meant to me.
