What happens when a single mom’s four-year-old daughter falls in love with Mr. Right and she doesn’t?
Maggie Tyson’s rule: no bad boys. Her incarcerated ex-husband broke her of that attraction. Needing to escape his threats and the scrutiny of the people in her hometown, Maggie relocates to New York City. Determined to not make the same mistakes, she has a mile-long list of dos and don’ts. Unfortunately, her daughter, Cecily, doesn’t like to follow them. When Cecily wanders away from her and right into Rick Stone’s office, Maggie knows he’s the exact type she’s been trying to avoid. Can she resist him or will she succumb to his willful charm?
Rick Stone’s rule: bed them don’t wed them. Running a multibillion dollar business doesn’t leave him with much time to do anything else, particularly with an overbearing grandfather breathing down his neck. But when a man works hard, he needs to play even harder. Voted America’s most eligible bachelor, Rick doesn’t have any problems getting women into his bed—except one.
Two auburn beauties stumble into his life.
One will break his heart.
The other—heal it.
Will he love or leave them?

-- MY THOUGHTS >
Judging a Book by it's Cover:
Cute. Man walking along the beach with a young girl on his shoulders. Soft, subdued colors. Nothing too bold to catch the eye. Synopsis sounds enjoyable.
Third person alternating POVs with no truly clear distinction. Each chapter is cutely labeled with a "rule".
Dare I say that Cece is the star of this book? She steals every scene she's in and is so adorable in doing so. Rick / Max is a fairly solid lead male with conflicting priorities and confused wants versus needs. Maggie is fighting hard to become more independent as a single mom while completing culinary school and working a new job in a new city all while being threatened by her ex-husband. Together, the lead characters begin to develop a love / hate relationship at a snail's pace; however, Cece demands his love and adoration from the get-go - while giving it freely and in full force and he's unwittingly powerless against her exuberant charms. There are a handful of key secondary characters that help to bolster the plot with a fuller quality. The interaction and dialogue usually feels natural, with only a few slightly awkward areas. Because Rick and Maggie continue to fight their attraction to one another and miss a lot of opportunities to openly communicate by holding too tight to reservations, the plot delivery leaves the flow feeling a bit sluggish even though the writing style is good. There are many self-imposed conflicts and only a few led by outside forces. The conflicts are all eventually resolved with minimal predictability. The conclusion is clean and solid. The story also includes Bonus Material that could be considered an extended epilogue that spans over 15 years, providing glimpses into the futures of Cece, Rick and Maggie. The sex content is virtually non-existent, only getting to any real sexual encounter at approximately ninety percent.
