There are a couple of things you need to know about me.

First, my dad is a judge. That means he thinks he can control everyone. In my mother and my perfect sister’s case, that works. Newsflash: it doesn’t work on me. I went against my father’s wishes and got a union job instead of college.

Second, even though I have yellow, or purple, or blue hair and skimpy clothes, I hate sex. Every guy I’ve ever done it with has made it suck. I’m so over hooking up.

Stop it. Don’t feel sorry for me. I’m living my life as the artist I’ve always wanted to be. So you see I’ve got plenty of time for this puppy I rescued from traffic on the freeway. But I don’t have a single second to spare for the hot lawyer who helped me.

My mom cleaned the bathrooms of rich doctors and lawyers in Beverly Hills. Now she’s retired without so much as a pension. I put on a suit, go to my top floor office, and work twelve hours every day just to support her.

After watching my mother being ordered around all day, I don’t like rich girls. I especially don’t like rich girls who go up against me at work. So why are this poor little rich girl and her new dog getting under my skin?

So sweet the way Ryan saw past all of Sophie’s barriers. Their meeting over saving a runaway dog was unique and funny.
This contemporary romance was upbeat and deeper than it seemed.
While Sophie made her living as a low paid makeup artist, her background was rich, famous, and full of prestige. Ryan, a successful attorney, had humble beginnings with a down to earth background.
I loved Ryan and his sincere attraction and interest in Sophie. His commitment to her was romantic, and I liked the way the author developed his character.
I enjoyed seeing Sophie blossom as she started to drop her protective barriers with Ryan.
Well written with good pacing throughout. Their connection was sweetly sensual with vulnerability on both sides that made it a truly romantic pairing.

A fun read!

People say that opposites attract. Sophie and Ryan couldn't be more different. She's a funky, purple, yellow, or pink haired make-up artist. Ryan's a buttoned up lawyer. He loves her just the way she is. After living with her father for so many years, Sophie vowed to never, NEVER date a lawyer. She makes an exception for Ryan until he starts getting a little too close for comfort.

Sophie and Ryan are an unlikely pair if there ever was one. I think the only thing they had in common at the beginning, is the dog they rescued off the freeway. Somehow , Ryan wiggles his way into Sophie's life. He's very persistent! This is a fun read with lots of great characters, including Sasha! I can't wait to read the next book in this L.A. Nights series.

Received a copy in exchange for an honest review.

Sunflower vs lawyer

She’s a sunflower, he’s a lawyer.

Ryan spots Sophie in her car in LA. He’s smitten. He pursues Sophie even though she tells him two things. She doesn’t date lawyers (her parents) and she doesn’t like, well, doing the deed.

Ryan is a saint and accepts Sophie, a free spirit, bohemian with tats and jewelry exactly as she is, cuz he’s pretty awesome.
