Witches Angelina and Evan Everhart-Trueblood take a case that spirals out of control until the whole city is at risk in this exciting new novel from New York Times bestselling author Faith Hunter.
Angelina Everhart-Trueblood and her brother Evan run Everhart Investigations, a PI firm in Chattanooga that solves paranormal crimes committed by supernatural beings. When their new client wants help finding her friend, who supposedly disappeared during a reception at Angie’s aunt Jane’s winter residence, things get . . . complicated.
The client is not who she appears to be, and demons strike the city for the first time since the Witch War. On top of that, evidence is pointing toward the involvement of an overly ambitious vampire—who just happens to be Angie’s ex-husband.
As Angie and Evan team up with CPD, they will have to dig deep into their magical reserves—and rely on some friends in high places—to rid Chattanooga of the danger creeping into their city.

Unpredictable Magic
Loved, loved this visit with grownup Angie and EJ! Great plot and nice to have vignettes with many old favorites from the World of Jane Yellowrock!
I went back to read the whole series again! Whetted my appetite for a whole new series around Angie and/or Evan! A must read for fans and new readers will want more!
I can’t finish it.
I enjoyed the Jane Yellowrock series - a lot. I thought a book about Angie and Evan Jr would be fun. Because the story had to happen in the future, there’s a lot of mundane talk about fantasy tech, weapons and gadgets. None of it is very interesting. When you can just make up a bunch of stuff not based in current reality, after a while it just gets boring. So we have battle + really long discussion about stuff and people that happened in the past + battle + analysis of events that happened in the past, repeat and repeat. No one really does anything besides talk about the past and have a fight. It makes the characters really one dimensional and not interesting. I almost quit 2/3 of the way through the book and tried to stick it out. I finally gave up because I decided I just didn’t care how it ended and what happened to anyone.
Outstanding
These characters, are old favorites, from the Jane Yellowrock series. Meeting EJ & Angie as grown ups, is awesome! The character development, pace of the story, and twist/turns, kept me GLUED. Now. I’m off to listen to the audible book!
