Until I Return

At the time of writing this book, the author had discovered that although people have studied various themes in John’s Gospel, time was not one of them. And so she began to create links using the theme of time, in the hope that their ultimate connection would lead along roads less travelled and to destinations she hadn’t even considered.

This book is an attempt to put these links into some sort of order so that answers to important questions about the Gospel of John may be derived, such as:

Why was it written and what was the trigger?
Who wrote it?
When did they write it?
What is its message?
Who did they assume would read it?
Why is it so different from the other Gospels?
How much of it should present-day Christians take to heart?

In pursuit of these objectives, the book uses four main areas of enquiry:

language (how the author expressed his ideas),
themes (recurring ideas or concepts),
characterisations (considering those mentioned as real people), and
patterns (structures).
