To love a Dark One is to invite death...
It is wrong to love her.
It is worse to want her.
It is sin to consume her.
I desire all three.
I've been given thirty days to prove my love to another immortal--as a human. Cursed to use nothing but the side of myself I've always despised to win her affection. I am Cassius, the King of the immortals, A Dark One.
And today I tasted fear for the first time.
How can I win her when my human emotions over take every ounce of logic I possess?
A darkness is brewing.
One I cannot stop as a human.
One that Stephanie, my loves visions, have shown, will be my end.
Thirty days ago I was King of the immortals.
Today I know fear.
Today I know how I will die.
By her hand.
The woman I love.
Awesome second book
I was skeptical but thankfully not disappointed. This was a great second book and I cannot wait to read the next!
Second book is better than the first!
Untouchable Darkness is the second book in Rachel Van Dyken's The Dark Ones Series.
UD picks up where the first book ends - After learning Stephanie is not a Siren that she was led to believe but a Dark One - half Angel, half human, she saves Cassius life by giving him her immortality. Once Cassius learns what she did for him, he calls on his father to return her immortality. His father, Archangel Sariel, "Thirty days of humanity — learn to love as a human does. If she loves you in return, truly loves you as you are and mates with you, I'll restore your immortality — and allow her hers."
Untouchable Darkness, with alternating POVs is the story of Cassius, now human, trying to win the love of Stephanie. We learn how an event in 79AD has shaped the manCassius is and it's effects on his relationship with Stephanie. We also get to see the softer, romantic side of Cassius.
“The minute our lips touched, those brief seconds you saved me, touched me, joined with me. For those measly seconds—seconds of living a lifetime of a million lonely seconds—I was complete.”

Rachel Van Dyken is a brilliant writer! I do not know how she does it. Her storytelling just keeps getting better and better. Her characters are relatable and fun. And the way she weaves an underlying story is effortless. I can't wait for the next book in the series!
One of the best paranormal series I've ever read
After reading the first book (the dark ones) I preordered this one and it was definitely worth the wait. I love how this series is being told in the present but also gives you flash backs so you truly understand why these characters are feeling what they are and why things are happening in the way they are. Cassius & Stephanie's story is beautifully told & you can't help but be cheering them on the entire time. I'm so excited to know there will be more books & I look forward to learning more about this characters in the future.
