Urology Miniatlas

In men, the genitourinary system comprises the urinary system and the reproductive system, both of which play important roles such as the excretory and the reproductive functions. They both work independently, finely regulated by the central nervous system.


It consists of the kidney, the urinary tract, the testes and the seminal ducts. Finally, it has a final common tract, the penile urethra, which serves as a passageway for both urine during urination and semen during ejaculation.


The purpose of this Miniatlas is to describe the anatomy, physiology and pathologies of the genitourinary system, as a practical and didactic way to understand the reason for disease, which may involve either one or the other system, and sometimes impair the functions of both of them. Furthermore, this handbook serves as a useful refresher for health professionals and those interested in the field.
