Publisher Description
Venn Diagrams is the debut poetry collection from Alex Dill. All the poems fall into one of three sections: the ‘Love’ circle, the ‘Heartbreak’ circle, and the space in between where they overlap. These poems are an attempt to make sense of the feelings we all feel in these spaces. Alex moved to New York City when she was seventeen, although some of these poems were written even earlier than that, while she was still a child in Delaware. She earned a BA in English from Marymount Manhattan College, followed by an MA in Gender Studies/Creative Writing from NYU. New York City, specifically the Lower East Side sub-neighborhood called Alphabet City, is the longest intimate relationship she’s known. She is currently residing there, trying to write and figure out adulthood simultaneously. Please think a good thought.
Customer Reviews
Awesome themes, but the gold is in the prose.
The title is clever and it plays into the themes of this collection. That's about how far I thought it was going to go. Then I actually read it. Who is this author? The diction was fantastic, and the prose was clean and flowed so nicely. I even chuckled a few times. The individual poems paid respects to works from all different mediums, to the point where if there was a reference I didn't get, I had to find it. I've never read a poetry book that made me feel so invested. A+. I want more.
