Ventures in Vietnam

This book covers three main locations in Vietnam from a number of trips to this country over many years. In December 2017 we made a trip to Da Nang and Hoi An on the east coast finishing in Ho Chi Minh to celebrate the New Year. I had also made visits to Ho Chi Minh numerous times in previous years so some of the photographs are included in this book.


Da Nang on the east coast is a relaxing beach resort so a good place to enjoy the beach, the fresh sea air and the wonderful fresh seafood at one of the many beachfront restaurants.


Hoi An is a beautiful small seaside town with an extremely scenic historical centre with interesting old heritage buildings and a fascinating history. Colourful lanterns along the streets and the waterfront make for a beautiful evening stroll.


Ho Chi Minh is a vibrant and developing Asian city which I have visited over the last 20 years or so. The city is an interesting mix of old colonial-style shophouses, hotels and buildings with more modern high-rise buildings now being built. Out on the streets of Ho Chi Minh there is always a lot to see with shops, street vendors and locals cooking and selling food on the street. The streets are continuously bustling with a sea of motorbikes which have taken over from the bicycles of the past. You can easily visit some interesting areas outside Ho Chi Minh by taking a boat to Vung Tau or taking a small boat cruise to the Mekong Delta to appreciate rural life in Vietnam.


This book has maps of each area and has photographs of each location which may inspire you to make a visit to this fascinating country which has friendly people, interesting locations to visit and importantly some incredible cuisine to sample.
