"Vessel"
Publisher Description
"Vessel"
“Vessel” is a collection that explores the concept of human beings as vessels of emotions, memories, and experiences. The poems delve into the metaphorical and literal journeys that individuals undertake in life, reflecting on how we carry, hold, and eventually release these intangible elements.
The collection is divided into five sections, each centered around a different "vessel":
- The Heart (love, passion, and loss)
- The Mind (thought, confusion, and clarity)
- The Body (physical experience, endurance, and change)
- The Spirit (faith, doubt, and transcendence)
- The World (our connection to nature, society, and the unknown)
Each section navigates the emotional currents and offers vivid imagery of these vessels either breaking, brimming, or being rebuilt.
The Heart
The Traveler’s Reflection
I walk between worlds of whispers,
hands cupped, catching echoes of hearts,
as if each pulse is a drop of rain
that slips through fingers, leaving a stain
of what was held and what is lost,
of what we carry at any cost.
I’ve known the weight of love unspoken,
the fragile heart, when truly broken,
and so I walk, a vessel, too,
filled with every heart I knew.
The Potter’s Hands
His hands, cracked as the earth,
knead the clay like muscle and bone,
shaping vessels of flesh and form,
each curve a reflection of his own.
He pours his soul into the hollow,
spinning stories, untold sorrows,
into bowls that sit on shelves,
empty as the lives they tell.
“I fill these cups with nothing,” he says,
“but silence and unspoken things—
the love I never dared to hold,
the grief I cast in rings.”
His hands betray what words refuse,
and in his craft, the heart is bruised.
The Widow’s Song
She sings to a bed made for two,
her voice a thin thread of moonlight
weaving through the air,
a lament woven in the cracks of night.
Once, her heart was full, overflowing—
now it holds only silence,
echoes that ache in the corners of her chest,
whispered memories that will not rest.
She walks the shore at dawn,
where the sea holds secrets too deep for breath,
and casts her love like pebbles,
each one sinking into depths unseen,
released, but never forgotten.
The Nomad’s Solitude
He moves like wind across the plains,
a shadow without a home,
his heart an empty vessel,
his hands carrying only stone.
He has learned the art of leaving—
letting go before he knows
the weight of any love or sorrow,
for to carry is to erode.
Yet in the hollow of his chest,
a quiet longing beats—
a seed of something not yet grown,
a wish for things unshown.
But still, he walks, a man unclaimed,
free from the ties that bind or tame.
The Mind
The Scholar’s Silence
In halls of ancient thought, he walks,
his mind a vessel of knowledge stored—
scrolls unrolled, their ink still wet,
with answers he has yet to get.
He fills his head with histories,
but in his chest, a hollow grows—
a chasm deep and empty still,
for love cannot be known by will.
He speaks in tongues of learned men,
but stumbles when he speaks of them—
the hearts that bleed in quiet rooms,
the silences that fill the tombs
of those who’ve felt but never said
the words now hanging in his head.
The Confusion of Clarity
Clarity, it comes in waves,
like light refracted through a glass—
a prism turning thought to dust,
and dust to thought, until at last,
we see not what we knew before
but something new, an open door
to questions we had long ignored,
to answers lying on the floor.
The mind, a vessel fragile still,
must hold the weight of doubt and will,
and though we seek to know, to see,
the more we learn, the less we’re free.
The Body
The Traveler’s Weight
I feel it in my bones, the weight
of every step I take,
each muscle stretched across the land,
each breath a fire, soft but grand.
My body, too, a vessel shaped
by every journey I have traced—
by mountains climbed and valleys crossed,
by paths both won and paths both lost.
The body bears the marks of time,
a story etched in skin and spine,
and as I walk, I feel the strain
of all I’ve held, of all the pain.
But still, I walk—this vessel, mine,
will carry on through space and time.
The Body Endures
The body is a vessel strong,
it bends, it breaks, but carries on—
it feels the burn, the sting, the scar,
yet heals, reforms, no matter how far.
It stretches through the weight of years,
absorbs the burden, drinks the tears.
In every breath, a life restored,
in every beat, a pulse ignored.
The body bends beneath the sky,
but never, never truly dies—
for even as it falls apart,
its pieces still retain the heart.
The Spirit
The Traveler’s Prayer
I bow my head in quiet awe
of what the spirit knows but saw
not yet the light to speak aloud,
of faith that walks beneath the shroud.
I’ve knelt in temples made of stone,
and felt the chill of being alone—
but in the silence, something stirred,
a voice that breathed without a word.
I walk through fields of doubt and fear,
but still, I carry something clear—
a spark that burns within my chest,
a faith that moves with every breath.
The Spirit Ascends
The spirit is a vessel light,
it floats above the darkest night,
it rises through the weight of sin,
and finds its way back home again.
It carries whispers on the breeze,
it floats on waters soft with ease—
it holds the weight of all we’ve done,
and lifts it, bright as morning sun.
The spirit, though, is fragile, too—
it bends beneath the weight of you—
and yet it rises, every time,
a flame eternal, pure, divine.
The World
The World’s Embrace
I walk through fields of golden grain,
and feel the earth beneath my feet—
a vessel vast and deep with life,
a pulse that beats beneath the street.
The world, it holds us in its arms,
a mother soft with ancient charms—
it cradles all we’ve ever been,
and shapes the lives we’re living in.
The world, a vessel deep and grand,
it holds us close, it takes our hand—
and though we strain to pull away,
it keeps us tethered, night and day.
The River’s Reflection
The river runs, a silver thread,
a vessel carrying what’s said
and what is left unsaid, as well—
a mirror to the lives we tell.
It moves through mountains, deserts wide,
reflecting all we hold inside—
our deepest fears, our grandest dreams,
our hopes, our losses, all unseen.
The river knows, the river keeps—
it carries all into its deeps,
and when we gaze into its face,
we see ourselves, a vast embrace.
