Village Directory of the North-Western Provinces, Volume XVI

AT the request of the Local Government, this work was undertaken by me, and compiled on the model of the Directory prepared in Bengal. In compiling this book every care has been taken to render it as complete as possible, and the transliteration of the names has been carefully seen to ; but as there must be many defects in the first edition of such a work, I shall be glad to receive corrections along with full particulars of the village respecting which any mistake or omission may be discovered. Whenever any change is made in the service of a village, owing to creation or abolition of any Post-office, the Superintendent of Post-offices concerned will communicate the alteration to the Post-office at the head-quarters of the district, and to the Manager, Dead Letter Office, Allahabad, and the change will be entered by these officials in the margin of their books. The change will also be intimated to the District Officer.
