Grim Dark Indeed
What I liked - I liked the grim-dark feel of the story, as the main characters struggle to maneuver through the politics and betrayals. House Helvintr is fantastic, and I would love to see a book about Katla and Astrid’s lives prior to this book. The uniqueness of their House was a refreshing change from the usual Imperial lifestyles.
What I didn’t like - The main character Erastus. A whining kid who seems to be completely out of his depth in every scenario, never playing into his past experiences, and throws impotent insults at everyone whenever he loses, while never really managing to do anything unless the plot requires it.
