Waiting for Beirut

A poignant tale of identity, love, and cultural conflict in mid-20th century America.
George Lahoud, a first-generation Lebanese-American, dreams of a medical career far from his family's immigrant life. But when his father falls ill, George returns to Danbury, Connecticut, to run the family market, facing the weight of family and community expectations.

His marriage to Eleanor Rizkallah seems perfect, but a honeymoon trip to Beirut brings unexpected love in the form of Andros Seleukos, a war veteran and painter. George's heart opens, challenging his identity and forcing him to choose between duty and desire in a moving story of cultural heritage, forbidden love, and self-discovery. For readers of literary historical fiction and stories of the Lebanese-American experience.
