Walter Dandy

This memoir recalls the life and accomplishments of Walter E. Dandy, MD, a neurosurgical pioneer who made stunning and seminal contributions to the field, including the first aneurysm clipping, the first discectomy, and most importantly, the invention of modern hydrocephalus therapy. Drawing on her memories and those of her siblings, as well as private letters, notes, photographs, and other family heirlooms, Mrs. Marmaduke produces a family history that evokes Dandy’s world unlike any other biography of the surgical pioneers from that period.
