This work is the result of a concept seminary assignment, part of Supply Chain course, from the students attending the Master program in Logistics and Transport Management at Gothenburg University, Handels Business School.
The aim of this work is to provide the basic knowledges in warehouse management, and our goal is both to introduce the reader to the general warehouse organization, but also we cover several subjects as the infrastructure, the warehouse management, the organization, technologies, optimization and inventory, and last the sustainable warehouse.
Warehousing is not a stand alone activity, but it is part and integral/key element of the supply chain. Companies use expensive resources such as people, equipment, building and materials; all these elements play an important role in achieving high levels of customer service.
Our goal and mission, in terms of future operators in logistics and supply chain departments, is seeking day after day, the Customer Satisfaction, as a competitive advantage.
A case study, (Martino Taste - food company, in Italy, chapter 8) is reported, in order to show how the IT contributes to the success and more efficient company.
This work was conducted as a team, and each single member was responsible for a dedicated section.
