She felt her older sister in the nest beside her, and she started to purr gently. Her mother and older sister purred along with her, and she drifted into a comfortable woozy sleep. She found herself dreaming about chasing a butterfly in what she thought the camp looked like. She saw a dark shadow creeping from the nursery at the corner of her eye, and realized the camp was deserted and destroyed. She suddenly cringed in fear, backing away from the fierce growing shadow. It crawled closer, getting bigger by every breath she took, every heartbeat, every second that went by. She backed away, but it got faster as it grew like a rising storm. She wailed and ran, picking up speed as she crashed through the ferns in her dream. She saw a creepy cat smiling with sharp teeth and claws, it’s eyes were black and . . . Melting! She turned and started to run, but halted arubtly when the shadow coming from the nursery was an inch in front of her. It had swallowed the camp, and she was cornered. She screamed and thrashed and woke up. Her mother looked down at her anxiously, and she relaxed, realizing it was just a dream. Her mother seemed to relax with her, licking her gently. Ghost kit purred softly and her eye lids grew heavy. She closed them and fell asleep. She awoke in an another dream, feeling scared that something might happen, but really, it was just a beautiful moor, with the sun shining and flowers blooming. She purred gratefully, glad that there wasn’t anything scary happening to her. She saw cats hunting peacefully, fur sparkling with stars in the broad daylight. One of them looked directly at her, and she flinched. It started walking towards her and she backed away, but it 𝘺came closer. It was a muscular broad Tom with a flame colored pelt, and green eyes.”I am Firestar, the previous leader of thunder clan.” He meowed peacefully. Ghostkits pelt shot up and she shivered, not because she was cold, but because she was scared. Fire star bent down and touched her with his nose, beginning to speak. “𝘠𝘰𝘶 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘢 𝘨𝘩𝘰𝘴𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘴, 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘣𝘭𝘦𝘯𝘥 𝘪𝘯 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘯𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵, 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘩𝘰𝘭𝘥 𝘢 𝘭𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘪𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘥𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶. 𝘜𝘴𝘦 𝘪𝘵 𝘸𝘪𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘺." His voice sounded strange, and before she could speak, she awoke with a start. “Mommy?” She meowed. “Yes?” Her mother replied gently. “Who is Firestar?” Her mother, SilverClaw, hesitated, pondering if she wanted to tell Ghostnight her answer. “ I-I-I . . . Ho-Ho-How do you kn-kn-know about him?” She stuttered. “ I had a dream. I was in a sparkly moor, and I saw this flame colored Tom, and he said his name was Firestar. He told me, ‘ You are a Ghost to others, you blend in with the night, but you hold a light inside you. Use it wisely.” Ghostkit meowed eagerly. SilverClaw didn’t say anything as Ghostkit patiently waited for her mothers answer. Her mother held the silence and Ghostkit accepted the fact she didn’t want to speak.
Later that day, Ghostkit awoke and saw a mossball, dissatisfied when she realized her mother wasn’t in her nest with her. She shook her sleeping sister, and she woke up, blinking away anything that got near her eye. She stretched and flexed her muscles, her beautiful pelt shifting as she moved. Her sister, FallenSnow, curled back into her nest and looked at Ghostkit expectedly. “Well?” She hissed bitterly. Ghost kit felt taken aback and annoyed that her sister was being so rude. “Do you want to play moss-ball?” Ghostkit asked kindly. “No.” Her sister snapped. “Can’t you see I’m trying to get some sleep?” Ghostkit felt a twinge of sadness. Her sister had changed ever since she decided to be the nursery guardian. She would act more snappy, rude, and she would never want to play with Ghostkit. Ghostkit sadly turned around and lay in her nest wearily. Her sister stretched and turned to Ghostkit. “You want to be an apprentice?” She said smoothly. “Yes!” Ghostkit piped up. “You want to do apprentice duties NOW?” Fallensnow purred. “Yes!” Ghostkit said, even louder than the last time. Fallensnows happy gaze quickly flashed to a bitter sweet jeering face. “Then clean my nest!” She snapped. “Pleh! No way! Gross!” Ghostkit snorted. Her sister smiled eagerly. “It’s an apprentice duty. Get used to it. “ Ghostkit looked up at her sister. “Do you have bees in your brain!? Your acting like a Foxhearted fool!” Ghostkit hissed. Her sister growled at her angrily and snapped, “Whatever! I’ll clean it my self, you useless piece of crowfood!”
Ghostkit felt a thorn jab into her heart. “B-B-B-ut-“ Before Ghostkit could finish talking, her sister stormed out of the nursery, not even laying a whisker on her dirty nest. Ghostkit felt pain bubbling up inside her. Did her sister love her anymore? (ResT oF ThE ChApTEr CoMiNg 🔜)
