About the Author


Dr. Deane is both a clinical physician (37 years as pediatric cardiologist) and policy adviser (systems expert) for American healthcare system. He is former Chief of Pediatric Cardiology at University of Chicago and now serves as "Consumer Advocate" Director on the Board of the New Mexico Health Insurance Exchange. 

Dr. Deane has authored more than 150 peer-reviewed medical articles; more than 250 articles for the general public; as well as five books all dealing with diagnosis and treatment of a sick patient, named Healthcare. 

Dr. Deane's education and training has been at Yale (BA, History), Chicago Medical School (MD), Anderson Management School (MBA), Mayo Clinic, Northwestern, and Harvard. 

Dr. Deane's favorite non-medical activity is racing his bike on the velodrome.
